Konica Minolta Continues Commitment in Edmonton Alberta with Major Investment in Office Rebuild

New Workplace of the Future office and sports partnerships highlight Konica Minolta’s continued support of Canada’s fifth largest city.

Mississauga, ON – November 20, 2017 – Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd. (Konica Minolta) is pleased to announce the recent grand re-opening of their newly renovated corporate office in Edmonton, Alberta. The original building was built 23 years ago, and the transformation took ten months to complete with an investment of over one million dollars.

The decision for Konica Minolta to re-invest in its Edmonton facility seems well-timed. Although the city struggled during 2015 and 2016 , its economic growth relative to the rest of Canada has been strong this year and the outlook remains positive. Konica Minolta currently generates over $18 million annually in the Edmonton area, employs 55 full-time employees and supplies office technology solutions to businesses of all sizes.

The company also supports numerous local community initiatives and are preferred partners of the Edmonton Oilers and Eskimos.

According to Chris Dewart, President and CEO, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd., “We are committed to supporting local economies across Canada and Edmonton is the most recent in a series of large investments we have made to prepare for future growth.” Mr. Dewart continued, “another strong reason for the revitalization of many of our older locations is to align with our corporate vision of improving how people work. Our innovative Workplace of the FutureTM strategy is as important for us as a business, as it is for our customers.”

The company held a grand re-opening on November 9, 2017, with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony that included dignitaries, software vendors and valued customers. The event also served as an innovation showcase and featured a special keynote from Stew MacDonald, the Edmonton Oilers Executive Vice President. Titled “Embracing Change and Partnerships in the Workplace,” Mr. MacDonald addressed the role detailed planning, partnerships and technology plays in today’s fast-changing work environment.
