Konica Minolta and ICON Team Up with AccurioJet KM-1 Inkjet Press to Take Variable Print to New Heights
Large format display graphics pioneer makes a bold move to create new service opportunities for its name brand clients
Mississauga, ON – February 22, 2018. – Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd. (Konica Minolta), a leader in the Graphic Communications industry, is pleased to announce another installation of its flagship Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 UV inkjet press at ICON located in Markham, Ontario. This ground-breaking technology offers unprecedented flexibility and personalization to meet the increasing demands of major brands to visually differentiate in the marketplace.
ICON was founded in 1995 and quickly grew to dominate the display graphics sector. They now boast four formidable divisions that provide "all things visual". With award-winning visual, media, motion and print services, they serve major retailers, CPGs, sports and entertainment industries and marketing agencies. The company was looking for a solution that would provide press quality output with the ability to fully customize each printed piece to support product launch campaigns for clients. After researching several other vendors and technically validating the solutions, they selected Konica Minolta's AccurioJet KM-1 inkjet press. ICON views digital print as a highly relevant technology with big growth opportunity.
"Recognizing the strong opportunity that variable print can offer our customers, we initially started talking to the major print vendors in that space," said Juan Lau, President, ICON. "Once we were introduced to the KM-1, we quickly knew this was the direction to take and Konica Minolta was the right partner. The 23x29" sheet size, speed, and quality output of Konica Minolta's technology is a perfect marriage that combines desirable traditional press attributes, with the power of digital creativity and the ability to print on the widest range of substrates. We see the KM-1 as game-changer in the digital marketing and variable print arenas, and as a company constantly striving to be different, we feel this system will really set us apart in the marketplace."
"ICON evolved from a wide-format print specialist when it first began, to one of the country's leading multimedia and visual communication companies," said Chris Dewart, President and CEO, Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd. "This relationship is another step forward towards the credibility Konica Minolta is rapidly gaining in the Canadian Printing Industry. Working with forward-thinking pioneers like ICON helps us better prepare and continue to deliver disruptive technologies to benefit the industry."
