Konica Minolta Unveils bizhub PRO C6501/C5501 Series Of Colour Production Print Systems

Toronto, ON – November 22, 2008 – Konica Minolta Business Solutions (Canada) Ltd., a leading provider of advanced imaging and networking technologies for the desktop to the print shop, today announced the Canadian introduction of the bizhub PRO® C6501/C5501 series of colour production print systems. The bizhub PRO C6501 features 65 pages per minute (ppm) colour and black and white printing and copying with a high volume 300,000-page monthly duty cycle, while the bizhub PRO C5501 offers 55 ppm colour and black and white output with a robust 250,000-page monthly duty cycle.

“The combination of quality, flexibility, and affordability make the bizhub PRO C6501/C5501 series a very attractive option for print professionals,” said Marie Novakis, Director of Product Planning and Market Development. “Unbiased awards and industry tests have proven that the preceding series competed very well in the big leagues of digital production print, thanks in part to our Simitri® HD Polymerised toner, and now the series is even better,” she said.

The bizhub PRO C6501/C5501 series' paper capacity, flexible finishing options and cost-efficiency are ideal for light- to mid-volume on-demand colour production printing. The new production print systems have the ability to duplex print heavy and coated stocks – up to 256 gsm (10 point) through any tray – and 300 gsm (14 point) stock simplex prints through a dedicated paper tray. In-line finishing options include a perfect binder for up to 600-page perfect bound books, a saddle-stitch booklet maker for up to 200-page trimmed booklets, a multi-folding unit offering 6 distinct fold patterns with post-insertion and hole-punch, and a 5,000-sheet stacker unit for increased productivity and lower labour costs.

Konica Minolta's exclusive Simitri® HD Colour Polymerized Toner was developed specifically for the production printing market, and is available for the bizhub PRO C6501/C5501 series. Its small particle size provides smoother halftones and a vast improvement in text reproduction and sharpness. In addition, the small particle size leads to less toner use resulting in cost savings.
