Konica Showcases "Best Of Class" Digital Printing Systems & Software Applications At Seybold San Francisco 2003

WINDSOR, Conn. – September 9, 2003 - Konica Business Technologies U.S.A., Inc. Konica's presence will be highlighted by the debut of two new software solutions, unityDesktopand DocuBreeze™, which have been developed to provide companies with cost, productivity and efficiency advantages by automating their scanning, document management and workflow processes.

Konica unityDesktop/unityDesktop Professional

Debuting at Seybold 2003, Konica unityDesktop and unityDesktop Professional are ideal scanning and imaging solutions for corporate workgroups and departments. unityDesktop and unityDesktop Professional join together three scanning applications: Konica's Scantrip and ScanSoft's PaperPort (featuring DesktopDelivery) and OmniPage Pro into software packages, providing simple solutions that reduce the frustrations and costs associated with document imaging, manipulation and storage; and bridge the gap between paper-based documents and digital office technology.

unityDesktop delivers scanning, image cleanup, document management and light OCR capabilities. Building on unityDesktop's capabilities, the unityDesktop Professional solution also provides the ability to print to PDF, PDF editing/annotation, native PDF creation, and automatic and continuous OCR. Each unityDesktop and unityDesktop Professional software package includes 10-user licenses for each of the Scantrip, PaperPort and OmniPage Pro applications.

DocuBreeze

The newest addition to the line of Konica-developed software applications, DocuBreeze is a browser-based, automated file processing solution that allows users to collect files from virtually any source; process the files in a variety of ways such as optical character recognition (OCR), annotating and indexing; and distribute the files to virtually any network destination via sophisticated routing rules and bar coding.

DocuBreeze enables companies of any size to create and implement simple and sophisticated workflow processes through a series of easy-to-manage tasks. DocuBreeze automatically retrieves documents or files from a selected source - a Konica multifunctional device (MFD), email, FTP server or Windows shares - executes scheduled tasks, and outputs the files in the selected format to Konica MFDs, email recipients or selected network locations or archives.

Highlights of additional products that will be featured in Konica's booth at Seybold San Francisco 2003 include:

• Colour Cluster Printing - a Konica 8031 Colour Imaging System and a Konica 7085 Production Printing System will be clustered using the Unify Konica 2.0 software, Konica's cluster printing solution developed in conjunction with Advanced Hi-Tech Corporation (AHT). With this mixed clustering solution, B&W and colour pages will be automatically split from a print file and distributed to the appropriate printer. The 8031 is the latest Konica colour device to support Unify Konica 2.0.
• ColorFORCE 8050 - the groundbreaking 50ppm colour imaging system will be demonstrating production-level, on-demand printing for the CRD and print-for-pay environments, as well as high-volume workgroups and the graphic arts industry.
• Enhanced Printing - a Konica 8031 Colour Imaging System will be displaying the powerful, high-end RIP of the recently released Fiery S300 print controller from Electronics For Imaging.
• Document Management and Workflow Solutions - Document management and workflow solutions, including DocuBreeze, ePware 2.0 and Objectif Lune will be displayed in conjunction with a Konica 7165 Departmental Document System.
