Minolta's Dialta Di551 Engineered For Versatility

Minolta brings on-demand printing/copying/scanning in house with award winning DiALTA Di551 printer/copier

Mississauga, Ontario, January 1, 2003 – Minolta Business Equipment has the high-quality, cost-effective print/copy/scan solution for demanding in-house environments. Winner of the 2003 Editor's Choice award from Better Buys for Business, Minolta's new DiALTA Di551 delivers professional quality imaging and digital productivity with 55 black and white print/copy pages per minute (ppm). The Di551 also offers optional controller-based capabilities that let users print, finish, scan, store and share documents with point-and-click speed and ease.

"Businesses looking to bring high quality print/copy/scan capabilities in-house will find a total solution with Minolta's new DiALTA Di551," said Marie Novakis, National Marketing Support Manager of Minolta Business Equipment. "The Di551 combines speed, functionality and cost-effectiveness in one workhorse solution, sure to enhance productivity and performance for any business."

DiALTA Di551

Designed and engineered for quality results and versatility, the Di551 is not a mere printer/copier. Featuring 55 ppm output, the Di551 delivers consistently superior image quality, plus optional finishing options and scanning options that make it the backbone of any high-performing business environment.

The Di551's special polymerized toner insures crisp, quality 600dpi prints with the sharpest detail and smoothest halftones. A selection of image modes, including text, photo, photo and text, and increased contrast mode allow users to adjust for any type of original. In addition, the Di551 reproduces two-page spreads, spreadsheets, layouts and oversize graphics on 12" x 18" paper that include margins and crop marks.

Users can easily keep document traffic moving by managing up to 30 jobs at once, programming jobs and checking job status-on-the-fly with the Di551's simple, user-friendly Touch Screen control panel.

Optional Controller Provides Printing and Scanning Capabilities Users who want to use the Di551 as a network printer or as a scanner can add the optional EFI (Electronics for Imaging) Fiery Pi6500e print controller.

The Pi6500e allows the Di551 to work as central printer for many workstations and lets users build finished documents directly from the desktop by controlling sorting, stapling, hole-punching and folding functions.

In addition, by adding the Pi6500e controller to the Di551 printer/copier, users can: Scan documents to E-mail for local network or Internet distribution, Scan-to-FTP for file exchange and Scan-to-HDD for file storing. Users can even choose PDF or TIFF formats.

Super-Easy Presentation and Booklet Making

For additional functionality, users can add the optional FN-113 Stapling Finisher with selectable two- and three-hole punch, or the FN-6 Booklet Finisher with sort, group, staple and half- and tri-fold capabilities. Users can also add a Punch Kit, Z-Fold/Punch Kit, Cover Inserter, and Trimmer unit for that extra quality finishing touch.

Price & Availability

The new DiALTA Di551 is now available from Minolta. The suggested retail price is $22,800. The suggested retail price for the EFI Fiery Pi6500e Print Controller starts at $3,980.
